I got the chance to cross paths with Cynthia Remec, the founder and chair of Board Assist, thanks to some mutual connections.

Cynthia hooked me up with this opportunity to join the board of Goodwill Industries NYNJ, Inc. This company is iconic, with over a century of history, deep roots in New York, and all about two things that really hit home for me: helping those with different abilities and other barriers to work get a good job and pushing for sustainable shopping through their well known thrift stores. Because I’m all in for what Goodwill stands for, I jumped at the chance to go through a rigorous selection process. I ended up going through six intense interviews with some key people in the organization, including CEO Katy Gaul-Stigge, the members at the Nominations and Compensations Committee, and the Board Chair, which all led to a thorough review by the Board. 

My appointment got the thumbs up from everyone on February 7, 2024, after the Nominations Committee recommended me. It’s a huge honor to work alongside such high-caliber professionals from top-notch places such as Morgan Stanley, Franklin Templeton, Amex, First Republic, the amazing apparel brand Coach, Ogilvy, KPMG, and an academic heavyweight like Princeton. Right now, I’m diving into the onboarding process, getting to know the leadership team, and I’m super pumped about the chance to check out the facilities soon to meet everyone who’s making this awesome project happen.

I’m also pretty flattered they asked me to join the Audit and Risks Committee,.
